9.11.2011

9/11 was Lisa's 20th birthday.  If I remembered to offer the customary "Happy Birthday" greeting, it wan't until late in the day, after some of the shock had worn off, I'd regained my senses, and slid back into my life.  I may have forgotten that year, but there's been no excuse ever since.  She and I have the inescapable, in-your-face, patriotic birthdays: September 11th, 4th of July.  So, in that vein...

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LISA

Thanks Sig! Jacob planned and pulled of his first party ever and I had no clue. It was a lot of fun! Bethany was here shooting a wedding last weekend and she asked if she could take our family pictures for us on Sunday. Bummed to miss football, but when we pulled up to the park I was annoyed Jacob parked right in front of the pavilion that was obviously super decorated for a party. Then I started recognizing faces and felt like an idiot as it was my own party! It was a blast and Bethany even managed to take our pictures still!

I think July 4th would be a better patriotic birthday to have. It's hard to really feel too celebratory on September 11th, even if it was my birthday 20 years prior. Every major decade birthday of mine will be marked by a decade of 9-11. And my next decade I will have an almost 16, almost 14, 12 & 10 year old ... yikes!
